The Cavalier on Ocean Drive is a stylish Art Deco beauty. Originally built in 1936, the 45-room property was recently remodelled. As you might expect, the seafood is first-rate. Start with the Lotus Shrimp Cocktail; Spicy Steamed Jumbo Shrimp served with a Mint-Mango-Pineapple Dipping Sauce. Entrees include Seared Ahi Tuna with Sesame-Pepper Crust and a delicate Crab and Lobster Tortelli. The menu changes daily. The Cavalier's guestrooms are decorated in an eclectic mix of tropical motifs woven together to create a soothing beachside oasis. Rooms include antique and contemporary furniture, working desks and terra cotta tiled flooring. Bold print fabrics contrast with cool white walls and terracotta tile floors. The walls are hung with striking photographic prints that chronicle the history of high-fashion in South Beach.
